We meter buildings first, then size solar and scope audits from that record
Orijtech Energy is an Energy Service Company operating in Uganda — your energy intelligence partner. Our engineers install the metering, our analysts write the monthly reports, and the same team holds the specification when a solar project or an audit follows from what those meters found. You contract with Orijtech and deal with Orijtech through delivery.
We work across 8 sectors, in facilities of 50 kW to 2 MW peak demand.
energy made easy.
The three service lines
Metering a building is a service in its own right. It is also the input to the other two: a solar array sized against a measured load curve, and an audit whose findings each carry the measurement that produced them. You can buy any one of the three on its own.
01
Energy monitoring
The flagship, and the input to the other two.
Sub-metering at every point where cost is created — incomers, distribution boards, major plant, tenant supplies — streamed to a live platform, with structured monthly reporting. Consumption, demand, power factor, voltage and phase balance, attributed to the part of the building responsible for them.
Energy monitoring02
Solar project development
Sized against the load curve the meters recorded.
We measure the load profile first, then size and specify the system against it, model the return, and manage the project and the client relationship end to end. Construction is carried out by a specialist EPC contractor under our management. Without a measured load curve, capacity is set from a bill total, and a site can end up buying more generation than it can absorb.

Energy audits
Scoped to your facility, evidenced by measurement.
Walk-through and instrumented audits covering tariff and billing review, demand and time-of-use profiling, power quality, transformer and load management, and equipment-level efficiency. Deliverables are written for procurement and for a board: findings, quantified savings, ranked recommendations with payback, and an implementation plan you can put out to tender.
Energy auditsFrom the grid operator to your facility
Orijtech Energy started in 2021 with a question that came from the other side of the meter.
Before Orijtech, our founder was an engineer at UETCL, Uganda’s national grid operator. Working with the systems that keep the national grid stable, one thing was impossible to miss: the operator can see everything. Through SCADA, every part of the network is monitored in real time — faults are caught early, waste is traced to its source, and the grid stays balanced. That visibility is what keeps the lights on for the whole country.
Then you look at the businesses connected to that grid, and the picture inverts. A factory, a hotel, a hospital — most of them run blind. The electricity bill arrives thirty days later, the money already spent, with no way to know which machine, floor, or shift drove the cost. The few who tried to close that gap were doing it by hand — clipboards and spreadsheets, slow and easy to get wrong. And the proper tools existed only as enterprise systems built for utilities and multinationals, priced far out of reach for a Ugandan commercial or industrial operation.
So the question was this: why should grid-level visibility stop at the grid operator?
Answering it took a background in electronics, embedded systems and IoT, and produced the equivalent of what the national operator relies on — sub-metering and real-time monitoring — sized, priced and supported for the businesses that run Uganda’s economy. The same principle that keeps the national grid stable, working inside a single building: every load that costs real money has a meter on it.
Why we exist
Energy decisions taken without energy data
A commercial or industrial facility in Uganda receives one monthly bill with a single total. Management knows what the site spends. Which transformer, which department, which machine and which shift it was spent on does not appear on that bill at all.
The consequence is that capital decisions (solar investments, transformer upgrades, tariff negotiations) are made on estimates. Operational decisions such as shift scheduling, equipment sequencing and demand management happen without the data to optimise them.
Orijtech Energy changes this by installing sub-metering at every cost-generating point in a facility and connecting that data to a platform where management can see, in real time, exactly where electricity is being used and what it costs.
A lower bill is part of it. The larger part is that departments can be held to a consumption figure, capital cases can be built on a measured history, and energy cost can be managed the same way as any other line a manager is answerable for.

Operating in Uganda
Capital avoided plus first-year operating savings, summed across three documented deployments. The three are Jesa Farm Dairy, Quality Chemical Industries and Sheraton Kampala Hotel, each written up in full under case studies.
The Orijtech site assessment
Every engagement begins the same way, whichever of the three you are buying: a structured site assessment, a five-working-day process that maps your facility's electrical infrastructure, identifies the points worth measuring, and produces a costed proposal with projected savings. Whether that proposal is for metering, a solar system or an audit, it is written from what we found on your site.
Infrastructure mapping
We document your supply configuration, transformer capacity, distribution boards, and key load points — producing a facility electrical schematic.
Metering point identification
We identify the optimal points to install sub-meters for maximum cost visibility, using your operational structure as the guide.
Proposal and financial case
A metering proposal with hardware specification, installation scope, projected savings, and payback period — delivered within five working days.

What the work produced on client sites
Four case studies across manufacturing, hospitality, government and food processing. Three carry an outcome in UGX. The fourth is a safety and metering-integrity finding at a public market.
